Long-Term Teachers have a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference at a lovely SEMH special school located in Okehampton. Providing high quality education and support to students aged 4 - 16, our school is seeking to appoint an experienced teacher to cover maternity to a year 3/4 class.

About the school:

The students you will be supporting all have needs associated with social, emotional and mental health challenges. • Provide targeted support, ensuring students remain motivated and engaged - class sizes are very small (between 4 - 6), allowing you to build meaningful relationships with students

  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, with a focus on emotional wellbeing as much as academic progress.

  • Develop and implement EHCP’s in collaboration with teaching assistants and support staff.

  • Implement behaviour management strategies, building trusting relationships to support students in overcoming barriers to learning.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent teaching qualifications.

  • Experience in working with students with SEN, particularly those with SEMH needs and challenging behaviours.

  • Excellent understanding of the pedagogy of progressing learning

  • A patient, compassionate, and resilient professional with strong behaviour management skills.
