Section Engineer

Highways & Civil Engineering

A Degree qualified Section Engineer is required to join a Devon based Civil Engineering Main Contractor on a c.2bn, 10-year programme of infrastructure works supporting the Royal Navy.

As a Contractor they currently operate across a number of sectors to include Highways, Rail, Construction and Build with Regional offices across Plymouth, Exeter and Bristol.

Typical projects include roads & sewers, foundations, infrastructure, major housing developments and Highways.

The main purpose of the role is to support their Major Projects team in Plymouth on the Project whilst Managing and driving the training and development of the Site Engineering team.

Key Duties:
  • Undertake Project based managing a team of engineers on various projects;
  • Provide Information and coaches subordinates in the use of setting out techniques;
  • Be capable of translating works information into setting out on site;
  • Have an understanding of robotic surveying equipment;
  • Support and ensure that the works are constructed in accordance with the contract drawings,
  • specification and Project Execution Plan;
  • Raise and track when Technical Queries are undertaken;
  • Produce Method Statements and Risk Assessments;
  • Prepare and raise Temporary Works Briefs;

Key requirements for the role:
  • Minimum of a HNC/Degree or equivalent, and holda Full UK Driving Licence
  • You will have proven people and project management skills with the ability to liaise in a professional manner with Client, Client Representatives and the General Public
  • You are aTeam leader with organisational skills
  • Experience working on civil engineering projects and managing a team;
  • Must be a team player but also able to work on own initiative;
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental legislation.
