Position: Special Needs Teaching Assistant (Male) - Due to the needs and requests of the student being supported the candidate needs to be Male
Location: Okehampton
Hours: Full-time - Temp to Perm Contract
Salary: £100 a day
Start Date: ASAP

All the students have Education & Health Care Plans (EHCPS) with primarily Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs. A significant proportion of the pupils have a range of additional needs including Autism Spectrum Conditions, Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), attachment difficulties andSpeech, Language and Communication Needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-on-one and group support to male students with SEN, helping them engage with the curriculum and develop key skills.
  • Assist the class teacher with lesson planning and classroom management tailored to individual needs.
  • Implement personalised education and support plans.
  • Encourage positive social interactions and personal development.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, therapists, and parents to monitor and report on student progress.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience as a teaching Assistant or a support worker, ideally with SEN students, is desirable but not essential.
  • A patient and empathetic approach, with strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to maintain a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment.
  • Must hold or be willing to obtain an enhanced DBS check.
