The Data Protection Officer (DPO) is responsible for managing and organising the implementation of a Data Protection Strategy within the business.

The role is essential in ensuring that our organisation complies with all UK GDPR requirements. As the DPO, you will update and maintain a data protection strategy. The DPO will protect employees from privacy breaches, fraud, and security threats.

The DPO will report directly to senior management and is granted full independence to perform their tasks. You will be involved in all issues related to the protection of personal data. Reporting to senior management, you will ensure that resources are allocated appropriately to perform all tasks in line with UK GDPR compliance.

Duties

  • Ensure that the company complies with all relevant data privacy laws and requirements
  • Create and oversee data protection frameworks and controls
  • Work with colleagues to develop a culture that values data governance and compliance
  • Act as the data protection key point of contact for internal colleagues, residents, providers and external regulators and Information Commissioner
  • Process Subject Access Requests (SARS) in a timely and efficient manner
  • Develop key documentation and policies in relation to data protection, data processing, sharing agreements and impact assessments
  • Conduct regular audits and assessment to guarantee GDPR compliance
  • Develop and deliver training on all relevant UK GDPR compliance requirements
  • Inform and advise colleagues on their obligations to comply with the UK GDPR and other data protection laws
  • Support and advise colleagues in completing and maintaining key documentation.

Experience

  • Accredited qualifications in data protection and risk management
  • Expertise in data protection laws and substantial understanding of UK GDPR
  • A specific understanding of IT, data security and processing operations
  • Good communication and influencing skills
  • Highly organised with a strong attention to detail.
