Position:  Tool Room OperativeSalary:      £31,000 a yearHours:      Mon to Thurs - 7.30am to 4pm, Fri - 7.30am to 12.30pmLocation: Oldbury, West BromwichThis role is of key importance to the continued growth and development of the company. The ideal candidate will have hands on experience within a CNC turning environment with the ability to work under pressure. The individual will be expected to support the day-to-day production activities in the most efficient manner, working within a team to provide both manufacture of new parts and conduct repairs to support the manufacturing divisions.Person specification:
  • Experienced in CNC Turning necessary, Siemens controls would be advantageous
  • Experience with manual lathe work and general Toolroom machining methods
  • Able to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Well organised, multi-skilled, self-motivated, and professional
  • Responsible for achieving own key objectives, as well as the objectives of the team
  • Able to prioritise own workload and work to tight deadlines under pressure
  • Computer literate and able to communicate and record information effectively
Your responsibilities:
  • Operate Toolroom equipment to a high standard
  • Operate a Forklift Truck and Overhead Crane to assist with daily duties whilst also enabling tooling to be delivered to production – training will be provided
  • Ensure as part of the team, manufacture is covered in a timely manner so that try-out dates are met
  • Ensure as part of the team, breakdowns are covered in a timely manner so that production downtime is kept to a minimum
  • Aim for a “right first time” approach to all work carried out
  • Liaise with contractors/suppliers where required and when additional support is needed, including agreeing timescales and costs
  • Maintain awareness and ensure full compliance with Health and Safety legislation, housekeeping standards and Company rules and procedures
  • Follow verbal or written instructions and work to set out procedures
  • Seek continuous improvement related to the business KPI’s and as part of the team, contribute towards improved performance and the overall improvement of the business.
