Pertemps West Bromwich are currently recruiting for a skilled and safety-conscious Chemical Process Operator to join our Manufacturing client based in Oldbury.

The primary responsibility of this role is to oversee the operation of reactors and vessels within our chemical processing facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong chemical awareness, be proficient in monitoring temperatures, and have experience in handling raw materials. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.

Operating Reactors and Vessels
  • Charge reactors and vessels from bulk tanks and IBCs (Intermediate Bulk Containers) with raw materials as per specified procedures.
  • Transfer frozen raw materials into drums for further processing.
  • Ensure accurate measurement and recording of materials used in each process.
Temperature Monitoring and Control
  • Monitor temperatures within reactors and vessels using appropriate instruments.
  • Adjust process parameters to control temperature fluctuations and maintain optimal operating conditions.
  • Respond promptly to deviations in temperature and take corrective actions to ensure product quality and safety.
Chemical Awareness and Hazard Prevention
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of chemical properties and hazards associated with handling various materials.
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Participate in hazard identification and risk assessment activities and contribute to the implementation of effective hazard prevention measures.
  • Maintain detailed records of process parameters, material usage, and equipment maintenance activities.


Working hours will be 4 on 4 off shifts both days and nights as below.
2x days 6am to 6pm then 2x nights 6pm to 6am then 4 days off.
Hourly rate of pay is 14.34 per hour.

Applicants will ideally have previous experience within a Chemical Manufacturing Environment, although extensive training will be provided for the right candidate.

FLT Counterbalance licence is required.
