Are you a caring and resilient Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are looking for a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team at a special needs school in Oldbury.

About the Role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to children with a range of complex needs, including Autism, ADHD, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and SEMH challenges. You will play a crucial role in helping students develop their communication, independence, and life skills in a nurturing and structured environment.

Key Responsibilities:

? Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, ensuring individual needs are met? Assisting with personal care and sensory needs where required? Implementing EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan) targets and individual learning strategies? Using visual aids, Makaton, PECS, and other communication methods to support students with limited verbal communication? Managing challenging behaviours using positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques? Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and SENCO to create an inclusive learning environment? Encouraging students to develop confidence, independence, and social skills

Requirements:

?? Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) - essential?? Experience working in a special needs school or SEN setting?? Knowledge of Autism, ADHD, PMLD, SEMH, speech & language difficulties?? A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting diverse needs?? Understanding of safeguarding and behaviour management strategies?? Experience with Makaton, PECS, or sensory integration techniques (desirable but not essential)
