About Us:Prospero Teaching are seeking SEND Teaching Assistants to work at a maintained Special School dedicated to providing outstanding education and support for children with severe, profound, and complex learning difficulties, along with medical needs. The school are a purpose-built premises are designed to meet the diverse needs of our students and include state-of-the-art facilities such as a music and drama studio, white and dark room studios, soft playroom, sensory room, swimming and hydrotherapy pools, and well-defined outdoor play areas tailored to different age groups and abilities. They are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment where every child can thrive. The Role:You will be a passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant and will be available to join the school as soon as possible. Your will play a pivotal role in supporting pupils with complex learning difficulties and medical needs. You will work closely with teaching staff to ensure that each student receives the personalised care and educational support they need to achieve their fullest potential. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting individual students or small groups with severe and complex learning difficulties, including medical needs.
  • Assisting in classroom activities and ensuring pupils are actively engaged and working towards their personalised learning goals.
  • Promoting students' emotional and social development, encouraging positive behaviour and inclusion.
  • Collaborating with teaching staff and other professionals to implement tailored strategies for learning and behaviour management.
  • Supporting with personal care needs where necessary and helping students with mobility, feeding, and other medical needs.
  • Helping with the use of specialist equipment, such as sensory and hydrotherapy tools, to enhance students' learning and development.
  • Documenting students progress and contributing to their individualised education plans (IEP)

About you

  • Has experience or a strong desire to work with children with severe, profound, and complex learning difficulties and medical needs.
  • Demonstrates patience, compassion, and a genuine commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of children.
  • Is flexible and adaptable to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Can work effectively as part of a collaborative team, supporting teachers and other professionals.
  • Has a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Is a confident communicator and is comfortable supporting children with a wide range of needs

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience working in a similar role in an SEN or specialist setting.
  • A relevant qualification such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • An understanding of medical needs, autism, PMLD, and other complex conditions.
  • Knowledge and experience in using sensory equipment and managing medical needs.
