Join the dynamic Restart Project Team at Oldham Council in the Employment and Skills Division. We are seeking a dedicated Programme Officer to contribute significantly to the Get Oldham Working campaign, helping residents progress into employment, training, and educational activities.

The Restart Project works with anyone who has been unemployed for a minimum of 6 months. You will be working directly with a caseload of customers to help them overcome barriers to employment, providing vital support to help people transform their lives. By motivating and empowering the people you work with, you will equip individuals with the necessary skills and confidence to enable secure and sustained employment.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Manage a caseload of clients, actively supporting their transition into meaningful employment, training, and work experience.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with clients to ensure the transition to employment is appropriate and beneficial.
  • Design and deliver both group and one-to-one activities, including initial assessments and inductions.
  • Support the identification of individual learning needs and plan appropriate training and interventions.
  • Maintain accurate records of clients’ training, development activities, and other key interventions.
  • Facilitate presentations and information day activities to promote the scheme to clients and external organisations.
  • Promote the creation of opportunities within the Council, engaging directly with service managers and supporting the recruitment process.
  • Build and maintain relationships with partners, stakeholders, and agencies across various sectors to secure employment and training opportunities.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience working with individual clients and organisations to establish effective relationships.
  • Proven ability to give tailored advice and guidance.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships.
  • Organisational skills to manage a diverse workload and meet potentially conflicting deadlines.
  • Literacy and numeracy skills sufficient to undertake the tasks and duties of the role.
