Our client is a leading civil engineering organisation specialising in ground investigation and construction. With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality services, they are seeking a Geotechnical Area Manager to join their team in Greater Manchester.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of ground investigation services in the Southern area office, ensuring projects are completed to a high standard, on time, and within budget
  • Prepare tenders and manage projects both technically and financially
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, building relationships with clients
  • Coordinate and execute ground investigations, providing expertise and input into the planning stage of new projects
  • Maintain effective communication with clients as well as internal stakeholders
  • Manage and develop a team of engineers, ensuring effective use of resources
  • Contribute to business development strategies to grow the contract business
  • Maintain and enhance management systems, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards
  • Monitor and audit contractual and assurance performance
  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends and technological advances in the geo-environmental field

Essential (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):

  • At least 10 years of relevant ground investigation and construction experience
  • BSc (MSc preferable) in Earth Sciences or Geotechincal related degree

Desirable (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):

  • Experience in project management and contract delivery
  • Strong communication and people management skills
  • Business development experience
  • Chartered Status - Highly Desirable

Technologies:

  • Proficient in relevant software and tools related to ground investigation and project management
