We are currently recruiting for experienced Senior Building Control Officer based in the Oldham borough. This position is to ensure that work on site and on submitted plans satisfy the Building Regulations and associated legislation. You will travel to these sites so a valid UK driver license and access to a car is vital. The pay for this position is £26.00 per hour.Main Responsibilities:

  • You will undertake continuous professional development and to be aware of new developments, legislation, initiatives, guidelines, policies and procedures as appropriate to the role.
  • Examine domestic and major project applications and plans and undertake inspections of building work to ensure compliance.
  • Provide professional and technical advice to customers on pre-application submissions.
  • Investigate reports of any dangerous structures and take appropriate action to render safe any structures found to be in a dangerous condition.
  • Assist with applications related to major projects for compliance with the Building Regulations, including those involving extended regulatory guidance related to fire-engineered solutions, Building Bulletins, Fire Code documents, etc.
  • Conduct inspections and audits of existing Council buildings and recommend improvements to the physical environment to assist the Council in meeting its obligations under the Equality Act.
  • You will uphold and implement policies and procedures of the Council, including customer care, data protection, finance, ICT, safeguarding and health and safety policies.
  • You will undertake any additional duties commensurate with the level of the post.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Degree or equivalent in a Construction-related discipline.
  • Membership or working towards full membership of RICS, ABE, CIOB, or equivalent.
  • Experience working within building control services dealing with a wide range of building control applications.
  • Experience applying Building Control legislation to complex projects.
  • Must hold a current driving licence and have a vehicle available for use at all times.
