We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Graduate Psychology Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team. This is a full-time position with the potential to become a permanent role, ideal for someone passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
As a Graduate Psychology Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students, both in small groups and on a 1:1 basis, to provide tailored support that meets their individual learning needs. You will play a crucial role in helping students develop academically, socially, and emotionally, enabling them to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Learning: Work with children with SEN to support their learning and development, using your psychological knowledge to inform strategies and interventions.
- 1:1 and Small Group Interventions: Provide focused support to students either individually or in small groups, adapting your approach to meet the diverse needs of the students.
- Collaborate with Teachers: Assist class teachers in planning and delivering lessons that accommodate the varied needs of SEN students, ensuring that all students can engage with the curriculum.
- Behavioural Support: Help manage and support positive behaviour in the classroom, using strategies that promote emotional and social well-being.
- Progress Monitoring: Track and report on students' progress, working closely with the SENCo and other staff to adjust support plans as needed.
- Building Relationships: Develop strong, supportive relationships with students, understanding their unique needs and creating an inclusive and encouraging learning environment.
- Parental Engagement: Assist in communicating with parents and caregivers about their child's progress and any concerns or achievements.
- Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in SEN education.
Person Specification:
- Education: A degree in Psychology (or related field) is essential.
- Experience: Previous experience working with children, particularly those with SEN, is highly desirable.
