Main Responsibilities
- Support and Assistance - Support and assist both the SEN teacher and the students with special educational needs, working under the guidance and direction of the teacher.
- One-to-One Support - Work closely with individual students during classroom activities, while reinforcing instructions given by the teacher.
- Inclusion and Differentiation - Differentiate the learning materials and methods to meet the specific needs of each student.
- Behaviour Management - Assist with behaviour management strategies, helping students with special needs to remain on task and not become distracted.
- Communicate - Communicate with parents/guardians, providing updates on progress, and ensuring consistency between home and school environments.
Requirements
- Have previous experience working with children with special educational needs.
- Have a good understanding of different types of special educational needs.
- Be patient and empathise with the student.
- Be adaptable and flexible as certain situations might cause you to make changes with little notice.
- Be knowledgeable of safeguarding procedures in case any situations occur in the school that you'll need to manage and deal with.
