Electrical Design Engineer - Critical Infrastructure
Location: Manchester (Hybrid working available)
Sector: Data Centres | Healthcare | Secure Facilities
Salary: Up to 55,000 + Hybrid + Progression
Looking to step into more technical projects without the usual catch-22 of "you need the experience to get the experience"?
This M&E contractor has been delivering complex, high-integrity projects for over two decades - from secure healthcare facilities to Tier 3 & 4 data centres. With long-term frameworks in place and a growing order book, they're looking to expand their electrical design team.
You don't need to come from a data centre or healthcare background. If you've got the core electrical design skills and the drive to level up technically, they'll give you the support and exposure to get there.
What you'll be doing:
- Designing electrical systems from concept through to delivery.
- Working with clients, consultants, and internal teams to deliver coordinated solutions.
- Using tools like Amtech, AutoCAD, and Revit to produce designs and calculations.
- Attending design meetings and site visits to ensure designs match real-world conditions.
- Contributing to design reviews and supporting junior engineers where needed.
You'll be a good fit if you:
- Have experience in electrical building services design (consultancy or contractor).
- Are familiar with industry standards like BS7671 and CIBSE guidelines.
- Want to step into more complex projects without being thrown in the deep end.
- Are detail-focused, collaborative, and able to take ownership of your work.
What's in it for you:
- Projects you can take pride in - no cookie-cutter designs here.
- Progression into Senior and Lead roles as the team grows.
- Hybrid working and flexibility built around trust, not micromanagement.
- A stable contractor with long-term clients and a strong technical culture.
- Salary up to 55k depending on experience, with regular pay reviews.
You'll be joining a team that values doing things properly - and backs its engineers to grow.
