SEN Learning Support Assistant
Location: Oldham
Salary: 16.11 PH
Contract Type: Full-time, Monday to Friday 8:30AM-3:30PM
Start Date: 22nd April 2025



About the Role:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant to join our team and provide vital support to students with special educational needs (SEN). This role is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people by helping them achieve their full potential.

As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with students, teachers, and the SEN team to ensure that every child receives the support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, SEMH (social, emotional, and mental health needs), and learning difficulties.

  • Assist in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.

  • Support students in accessing the curriculum and adapting learning materials to meet their needs.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel safe and encouraged.

  • Help develop students' confidence, independence, and social skills.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to ensure effective support.

  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to staff and parents/carers where necessary.



Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people, preferably in an educational or SEN setting.

  • A patient, nurturing, and proactive approach to supporting students with diverse needs.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and build positive relationships with students and staff.

  • A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Health & Social Care, or SEND-related training) is desirable but not essential.
