We are seeking a Deputy Residential Homes Manager to assist in managing multiple residential homes, their staff, and residents. This role is integral to providing a safe and nurturing environment for children and young people, working closely with the Manager to ensure the highest standards of care and professional practice.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Work as part of a Management Team overseeing more than one Residential Home.
  • Assist the Manager in creating a planned and safe caring environment that provides care, control, and nurture, maintaining and promoting the emotional and physical well-being of children and young people.
  • Help develop, implement, review, and record LAC materials in collaboration with Field Social Workers for each child or young person.
  • Contribute to the development of Child Care Services and professional standards throughout the Department.
  • Maintain and create contacts and liaisons outside the establishments to support the homes' objectives, such as with schools, health services, and family members.
  • Supervise and develop staff both individually and as a team to ensure the homes' purposes and management objectives are met.
  • Assist in appointing domestic staff and allocating work to ensure it meets departmental standards.
  • Foster the professional development of all staff, assess training needs, provide in-unit courses, and utilize external training resources.
  • Supervise staff undertaking professional training or students on placement, and act as an NVQ Assessor.
  • Assist the Manager in monitoring budgets and ensuring spending is within set limits.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in residential care management or a similar role.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including regular weekends and evenings.
  • Experience in budget management and staff development.
  • NVQ Assessor qualification is advantageous.
