We are seeking a Building Services Engineer with a focus on Mechanical and Operational disciplines to support the strategic direction and effective management of our Council’s property portfolio. This role involves delivering technically excellent engineering services, ensuring compliance, and enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of property management and construction projects.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:- Technical Leadership: Direct and oversee work delivered by technicians, graduates, trainees, and external service providers. Manage and enable the efficient delivery of mechanical maintenance activities.
- Technical Expertise: Maintain expertise in mechanical building service systems including gas, water utilities, and more. Undertake continuous professional development to stay updated with industry standards.
- Maintenance Activity: Manage the provision of mechanical engineering maintenance services, ensuring safety and efficiency. Oversee budget management and cost efficiency for maintenance activities.
- Project Technical Services: Deliver Clerk of Works services, oversee the commissioning of mechanical systems, and ensure alignment with design specifications and performance standards.
- Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance: Implement QA processes and comply with all regulations and standards to ensure efficient operation of mechanical systems.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with mechanical engineering projects and maintenance activities.
- Energy Efficiency and Sustainability: Promote sustainable and energy-efficient practices within the mechanical engineering discipline.
- Documentation & Reporting: Produce accurate maintenance documentation, engineering reports, and ensure proper record-keeping.
- Education & Qualifications: Technical Vocational qualifications in Mechanical discipline (e.g., ONC/NVQ level three). Higher qualifications like HNC in Building Services Engineering are desirable.
- Experience: Proven experience in the construction and maintenance of Mechanical Building Services Engineering systems. Leadership and project management experience in a multi-disciplinary environment is essential.
- Skills & Abilities: Strong technical expertise in mechanical engineering, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate complex technical information effectively.
- A valid driving licence is necessary as the role requires travel to various sites.
