Complex Families Engagement Worker

We are seeking a dedicated Complex Families Engagement Worker to provide early intervention and prevention support to families in Oldham. You will play a vital role in helping families navigate a wide range of challenges, including education, health, housing, mental health, substance misuse, behavioural issues, and domestic abuse. Working within a multi-agency team, you will deliver support in schools, community hubs, and directly within family homes to ensure holistic care tailored to each familys needs. Duties:

  • Conduct in-depth assessments of family needs, ensuring that support is in line with legislation, best practices, and quality standards.
  • Develop and deliver tailored intervention plans that address challenges such as housing, education, health, and family dynamics over a 12-week period.
  • Provide direct support in various settings, including homes, schools, and community hubs, focusing on practical, sustainable solutions for the familys progress.
  • Work closely with partner organisations and agencies to ensure a coordinated approach, helping families access a range of support services.
  • Regularly monitor and evaluate family progress against agreed intervention plans, adjusting support as needed to ensure sustained positive outcomes.
  • Act as an advocate for families, ensuring their voices are heard and that they receive appropriate support and representation across services.
  • Maintain detailed records of interventions, family progress, and outcomes, adhering to confidentiality and safeguarding protocols.

Required Skills:

  • Experience working with families and individuals facing complex challenges, including children.
  • Strong knowledge of issues affecting families, including mental health, substance misuse, housing, and domestic abuse.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multi-agency framework, demonstrating strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Skilled in planning, monitoring, and evaluating progress over specified timeframes, ensuring meaningful interventions.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and best practices in family support, safeguarding, and child protection.
  • Empathetic, resilient, and committed to helping families overcome barriers and achieve positive outcomes.


Due to the nature of this role, you will need to be a vehicle driver with access to your own vehicle and you will be required to complete an online Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
