Youth Worker (Special Educational Needs School)Location: Oldham

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm.

Our team is committed to providing a nurturing environment that promotes personal growth, independence, and academic success. We are currently seeking a passionate and dynamic Youth Worker to join our team.

The Role:As a Youth Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs (SEN), including those with learning disabilities, emotional and behavioural difficulties, and other additional needs. You will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide individualized care and guidance, ensuring that each student can thrive socially and academically.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the emotional, social, and academic development of students with SEN.
  • Assist in creating a safe and inclusive environment where students feel valued and understood.
  • Facilitate group and one-to-one sessions to promote social skills, emotional resilience, and self-confidence.
  • Collaborate with teachers and parents to develop and implement tailored support plans.
  • Act as a positive role model and mentor, encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in school activities.
  • Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to staff and families.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities and contribute to a holistic educational experience.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with young people, particularly those with special educational needs or in a similar role.
  • Understanding of SEN, including autism, ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health), and learning difficulties.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting young people.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 3 in Youth Work, Social Care, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
