Advanced Practitioner - Assessment and Intervention

We are seeking Senior Social Workers / Advanced Practitioners to join our Assessment & Intervention Team. This role is ideal for a candidate with a strong background in social work, particularly within children’s social care. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a caseload of complex and challenging cases and will play a crucial role in supporting staff and driving practice improvement.

Day to Day of the Role:
  • Manage a caseload of complex and challenging cases, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and support.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff, enhancing team performance and professional development.
  • Engage in reflective practice and contribute to the team’s learning and growth through supervision and mentoring.
  • Implement and lead on Systemic Practice within the team, promoting outcome-focused and relationship-based work with families.
  • Utilise quality assurance tools to drive improvements and achieve positive outcomes for children.
  • Critically review assessments and plans, ensuring high standards and continuous improvement in practice.
  • Maintain accurate records and support the adoption of new working practices and ICT systems.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • A Social Work degree or equivalent recognised qualification, e.g., DipSW.
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience in motivating and supporting staff and ensuring work is completed to required standards.
  • Experience in undertaking assessments and supporting children and families with complex multi-agency support plans.
  • Skills in assessment and planning with families to bring about the best possible outcomes for children and young people.
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant legislation, codes of practice, and national guidelines connected with service delivery in this area of social work.
  • Ability to critically analyse and reflect on own experiences and interventions with children and families.
  • Driving Licence or able to travel independently across the Borough of Oldham.
