Description

Oldham Council is looking for 17 experienced and committed Children's Social Workers to join our Safeguarding & Child Protection (CP) Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking, supportive team that is dedicated to improving the lives of children and families.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake assessments and develop Care & Support Plans for children and families in need of safeguarding and protection.
  • Respond to crisis situations, using appropriate interventions to safeguard children at risk.
  • Manage complex caseloads, working closely with multi-agency professionals to deliver high-quality support.
  • Prepare reports for court proceedings, case conferences, and reviews, ensuring all work is completed to the highest standards.
  • Advocate for children and families, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met.
  • Contribute to a learning culture, sharing skills and mentoring less experienced colleagues.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Degree in Social Work and registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years' post-qualification experience, ideally in safeguarding/child protection, but we welcome applications from those with experience in other areas such as Assessment & Intervention.
  • Skills: Strong assessment, risk management, and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge: A thorough understanding of child protection legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Other Requirements: A full driving licence or ability to travel across Oldham.
