The Role - Mental Health Assistant
As a Mental Health Assistant, your role will focus on supporting students with SEMH needs, helping them build resilience and coping strategies. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing 1:1 and group support for students with mental health challenges.
- Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to create tailored interventions.
- Delivering mindfulness and well-being sessions to foster emotional growth.
- Identifying early signs of mental health concerns and implementing appropriate strategies.
- Supporting positive behaviour management through evidence-based techniques.
- Developing trusting relationships with students, acting as a key source of support.
- Contributing to individualized learning and pastoral support plans.
What We're Looking For
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled individual who:
- Has experience supporting children or young people with mental health challenges or special educational needs (experience in educational or care settings is desirable).
- Is emotionally resilient, empathetic, and passionate about mental health and education.
- Has knowledge of mental health conditions and interventions (training or qualifications in mental health or SEN are a bonus).
- Excels at building positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Is confident in managing challenging behaviours using positive reinforcement strategies.
- Is proactive, adaptable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
