School Support Worker

Location: Oldham

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm.

We are currently seeking a compassionate and motivated School Support Worker to join our team.

The Role:
As a School Support Worker, you will assist students and staff in ensuring the smooth running of the school day. You will work directly with students who may need additional support due to special educational needs, behavioural challenges, or personal circumstances. Your role will involve working one-on-one and in group settings to support students' overall well-being and academic progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day support to students in class, during break times, and in extracurricular activities.
  • Assist students with special educational needs, ensuring they are engaged and supported throughout the school day.
  • Help implement individual learning, or behaviour plans in collaboration with teachers and the SEN team.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, acting as a trusted role model and source of guidance.
  • Monitor and report on students' progress, behaviour, and well-being to relevant staff members.
  • Provide support to staff in the classroom, helping maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Assist with any other duties as required to contribute to the smooth running of the school.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally within a school setting.
  • A positive and proactive attitude with the ability to engage students.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, empathetic approach, particularly when working with students facing challenges.
  • Ability to work well in a team and take direction from senior staff.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or support work (desirable but not essential).
