SEN Teaching Assistant - Oldham

Cover People are working in partnership with a warm and welcoming secondary school in Oldham to find a SEN Teaching Assistant on a long-term basis immediately! The school have been praised by Ofsted by their supportive and inclusive environment for staff and students.

The ideal candidate will be booked until at least Christmas, working on a one-to-one basis or small group basis with a SEND students, supporting them across their full timetable.

The school may accept applicants with Social Work or Youth Work experience, supporting vulnerable individuals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with SEN needs.
  • Behaviour management – supporting students with challenging behaviour
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Help create a safe and supportive classroom environment that encourages positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
  • Work alongside the teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop effective strategies for students.
  • Provide support and guidance to students, help them to overcome challenges

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with students with SEND needs is highly desirable.
  • Desire to work in mainstream secondary schools
  • Passion and drive to help impact the lives of the children around you
  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is preferred but not essential.
  • Commitment to promoting an inclusive and positive learning environment.
  • Previous experience working within a school for 6 weeks+.
