An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Teacher of KS3 Design and Technology to join a supportive secondary school in Oldham on a permanent basis. This is a great opportunity to begin your leadership career, leading key stage 3 and building those crucial foundations for key stage 4 success. You will work under the direction of the curriculum leader, but will have the opportunity to further develop the curriculum and contribute directly to decision making.

This school retained their 'GOOD' Ofsted rating in January 2022 with key highlights stating: "Pupils behave sensibly around the school and in lessons. They are respectful to other pupils, staff and visitors." "Staff value the steps that leaders have taken to ease their workload and support their well-being." Senior leaders have taken radical steps to manage the workload and well-being of colleagues by reducing unnecessary burdens and bureaucracy. These actions were rated highly in the most recent staff survey, which takes place on annual basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To ensure the highest possible provision in the curriculum area and work with the curriculum leader to ensure that KS3 planning is effective in delivering strong outcomes for all students.
  • To teach students assigned to the teacher and to ensure that planning, preparation, assessment and reporting meet their varying learning and social needs.
  • To lead on KS3 curriculum development and contribute to raising standards of student attainment in this key stage.
  • Lead on the production of KS3 D&T resources including the production of KS3 assessments.
  • To support the curriculum leader in monitoring the implementation of the KS3 curriculum.
  • Support with trainee and ECT development within the faculty, including subject specific training and good practice observations.
  • To monitor and assess student progress to improve their quality of learning and personal growth.
  • To undertake the duties of a form tutor if required to do so.
  • To undertake the duties and responsibilities specified by the current School Teachers Pay and Conditions Document (STPCD).
