Job Title: Motor Vehicle Mechanic

Location: Oldham

Contract Type: Temporary

Contract Length: 4 months

Working Pattern: Full Time

Salary: £13.30 to £14.77

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections and tests on vehicles to meet the Council and Department of Transport standards
  • Perform maintenance, repairs, and inspections on a range of vehicles and equipment
  • Carry out welding, fabrication, and auto electrical repairs
  • Diagnose and repair vehicle hydraulic equipment and electrical systems
  • Complete MOT tests for Vehicle Classes III, IV, and V and handle associated paperwork
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records for tests and repairs
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and departmental policies
  • Monitor the quality of vehicle examinations by other Council examiners
  • Undertake planned service and safety inspections of vehicles and equipment

Essential (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):

  • City & Guilds Part 1, 2 & 3 in Motor Vehicle Technology or equivalent qualification
  • LGV Class C licence
  • Department of Transport MOT Examiner for Vehicles classes III, IV, and V
  • Minimum 12 months of experience working on commercial vehicles and small plant vehicles

Desirable (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):

  • Experience in carrying out MOTs and completing associated paperwork
  • Knowledge of electrical systems on vehicles, machinery, and plant
  • Familiarity with the department's quality systems and MOT requirements
