The Role

We are looking for a Health & Safety Engineer to join our Nuclear Power Engineering & Technical Solutions (NPETS) team, providing HSE leadership and support at a power station located on the west coast of Scotland. You will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental performance across project teams.

Your role will involve leading HSE initiatives, promoting best practices, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. You will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of HSE systems, ensuring compliance with regulations, and making recommendations for improvement as necessary.

While this role will be predominantly based at the power station, some travel to other UK sites will be required. There may also be options for flexible working arrangements, including some home-based work. You will report to the Operations Manager, with direct accountability to the client for project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead health, safety, and environmental initiatives within project teams.
Monitor and assess the effectiveness of the HSE Management System.
Drive continuous improvement in HSE performance across all areas.
Provide functional support to the client’s HSE leadership team.
Manage HSE aspects of project work, ensuring compliance with regulations.
What You’ll Bring:

Proven experience in highly regulated environments, with a focus on safety.
Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships across project teams.
HNC in a relevant technical discipline or equivalent qualification.
NEBOSH General Certificate, Construction Certificate, or NVQ Level 3.
Knowledge of CDM Regulations and experience managing contractors.
Membership in IOSH (desirable) and an IEMA Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management.
Strong understanding of current HSE legislation in project environments, including accident investigation experience.
