United Drains is a well-established plumbing and drainage company specialising in the commercial sector. Operating across England and Wales, we deliver high-quality services to a wide range of commercial clients. As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Operations Manager to join our expanding team.

The Role:
We are seeking a driven, ambitious and highly capable individual with a strong background in drainage operations. You will be responsible for managing a large team of engineers and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of our operational activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of over 40 drainage engineers
  • Conduct staff reviews and disciplinaries
  • Interview and onboard new drainage engineers
  • Provide technical support and assist with complex jobs (including occasional out-of-hours support)
  • Carry out site audits and attend site as required
  • Support the operations team with technical queries
  • Oversee quoted works: ensuring correct scheduling, engineer assignment and part ordering
  • Attend large site visits and assist with quotations
  • Meet with clients when necessary
  • Prepare RAMS and manage H&S documentation
  • Conduct H&S inductions, meetings and toolbox talks
  • Induct new staff and subcontractors

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years experience in the drainage industry
  • Proven management experience within the sector
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Competency in high pressure water jetting
  • Solid understanding of Health & Safety procedures
  • Good level of IT literacy (especially Microsoft Excel)
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Full UK Driving Licence

This role is approximately 80% office-based and 20% field-based.

Preferred Experience:

  • Plumbing: 5 years (preferred)
  • Drainage: 10 years (required)
