The post holder will act using their own initiative where necessary as a specialist technician to provide technical support services for the routine and non-routine fault diagnosis, repair, maintenance and operation of a wide range of complex building services. These systems are situated in a wide range of healthcare premises across the Trusts. They will also perform a wide range of technical measurements and adjustments, inputting and manipulation of data on computer-based systems, liaising as necessary with Trust Management, nursing, other support staff, and specialist contractors to ensure optimal operation of all building services, plant and equipment.
KEY DUTIES -
- Carry out installation, repair, service, and calibration work on a wide range of complex, mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment, building services and plant in accordance with relevant Health Technical Memoranda, water bylaws, British standards, codes of practice, and legislation.
- Actively participate in the management, and operation of planned preventative maintenance schemes.
- Undertake the full range of technician's duties, using hand and power tools and test equipment.
- Carry out test and fault diagnostic procedures using electronic instruments both on site and in workshop.
- Carry out manual handling of heavy objects (20kg) as required (after suitable training) to keep plant and equipment running as required.
- Carry out cleaning, decontamination, specialist fault diagnosis and repairs of patient related and specialised equipment.
- The technician will be based at either Ormskirk or Southport but will be expected to work from any base to match the demands of the service.
CLINICAL & PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Liaise with Trust management, Nursing personnel, Support personnel, Statutory bodies and specialist contractors to advise on the best course of action to be taken in situations as they arise and carry out recommendations where this is within their capabilities.
