Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Location: Ormskirk or Southport (with flexibility to work across Trust sites)

Job Description:

The Maintenance Technician will act as a specialist technician, using their initiative to provide technical support services for the routine and non-routine fault diagnosis, repair, maintenance, and operation of a wide range of complex building services. Working across various healthcare premises within the Trust, the post holder will perform technical measurements, adjustments, and data management using computer-based systems.

Key Responsibilities

Perform installation, repair, servicing, and calibration of complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment in line with Health Technical Memoranda, water bylaws, British Standards, codes of practice, and legislation.

Actively participate in planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schemes.

Conduct fault diagnostics using hand tools, power tools, and electronic testing equipment both on-site and in a workshop setting.

Manually handle heavy objects (up to 20kg) after appropriate training to ensure continued operation of plant and equipment.

Carry out cleaning, decontamination, and specialist fault diagnosis and repair of patient-related and specialised equipment.

Work flexibly from any Trust site to meet service demands.

Liaise with Trust Management, Nursing personnel, Support personnel, statutory bodies, and specialist contractors to determine the best course of action for resolving technical issues.

Respond to emergency call-outs across all Trust-maintained properties, including travel to required sites.

Qualifications & Experience

Recognised Mechanical/Electrical apprenticeship.

Relevant experience in maintenance and repair of complex mechanical/electrical systems.

Physically fit to handle manual tasks
