We provide a definitive range of services to the UK building and construction industry covering civil & structural engineering, building & quantity surveying, clerk of works, project management, employers agent, architecture, mechanical & electrical engineering, sustainability, building information modelling, development monitoring, expert witness, fire consultancy, party wall and health & safety.

Position

The role:

As a Chartered Senior Building Surveyor, you will lead and deliver a broad range of surveying services, managing complex projects and maintaining strong client relationships. You’ll also support junior members of the team with their ongoing development.

What you’ll be doing:

  1. Leading and managing a variety of building surveying projects, ensuring they’re delivered on time, within budget and to the required standards
  2. Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing and potential clients, providing professional advice and identifying new business opportunities
  3. Provide expert advice and guidance on building surveys, condition reports, party wall matters, defects and other related areas
  4. Prepare detailed and accurate reports, specifications, schedules, drawings and other related contract documentation
  5. Undertake reviews of sites to identify and manage potential risks, ensuring that health and safety, legal and environmental considerations are taken into account
  6. Share knowledge with and mentor junior members of the team

What you’ll need:

Qualifications

  • A Degree in a related subject
  • MRICS or similar or significant progress towards the qualification
  • Must have full UK driving licence and access to transport

Knowledge

  • An understanding of building construction and property law, e.g. Party Wall (etc) Act 1996
  • An understanding of construction risks, costs and economics
  • Experience of Pre-contract matters and the ability to take a project through its lifecycle
  • Familiarity with standard forms of contract including the JCT suite
  • Experience of Retrofit and Fire Safety remediation would also be beneficial

Skills

  • A full and detailed working knowledge of the most widely used forms of building contract
  • Ability to produce good quality written reports
  • Good numerical skills
  • Good communication and people skills
  • Mentoring skills to help develop more junior staff
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook
