The Opportunity

A leading national training provider is seeking a dynamic and strategic Head of Quality to oversee quality assurance and continuous improvement across its apprenticeship and training provision. This high-impact leadership role will drive excellence in teaching, learning, and assessment standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

The Role

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Operations, the Head of Quality will lead a national team responsible for monitoring and enhancing training standards. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the organisation's quality strategy, supporting staff development, and ensuring outstanding learner experiences. Key aspects of the role include:

  • Leading and managing the Quality team to deliver high-impact assurance and improvement initiatives.

  • Developing and implementing a robust quality improvement strategy aligned with Ofsted's Education Inspection Framework and apprenticeship standards.

  • Driving a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring all staff contribute to raising standards in teaching, learning, and assessment.

  • Overseeing quality monitoring activities, including observations, learner feedback analysis, and data-driven improvement initiatives.

  • Supporting the production of Self-Assessment Reports (SAR) and Quality Improvement Plans (QIP), ensuring evidence-based enhancements.

  • Collaborating with delivery teams, curriculum leaders, and shared services to ensure consistency and alignment with best practices.

  • Managing the standardisation of assessment and teaching practices across all training locations and subcontractors.

  • Acting as the deputy/shadow Ofsted nominee, playing a key role in regulatory inspections.

  • Overseeing compliance with awarding body requirements and ensuring the integrity of assessment processes.

  • Managing budgets for quality assurance and improvement activities.

About You

This role requires a proactive, analytical, and collaborative leader with a strong background in quality management within apprenticeships or further education. Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Degree-level education or extensive relevant industry experience.

  • Recognised teaching qualification (Level 4 or above).

  • Assessor and Internal Quality Assurer qualifications (e.g., TAQA, A1, V1).

  • Extensive experience in quality management within apprenticeship training, including knowledge of Ofsted's Education Inspection Framework and ESFA compliance.

  • Strong leadership and team management experience, with the ability to drive performance and foster a high-quality culture.

  • Analytical mindset, with experience using data insights (e.g., QAR reports, Power BI) to inform decision-making.

  • Ability to engage and influence key stakeholders, both internally and externally.

  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally.

Desirable:
  • Leadership or management qualification (e.g., ILM, CMI Level 5+).

  • Coaching/mentoring qualification (ILM, CMI Level 5+).

  • Experience as an Ofsted nominee or deputy nominee.

  • Background in electrical/mechanical services (Level 4 qualifications preferred).

  • Experience overseeing the quality of subcontracted provision.
