Part-Time Site Assistant vacancy has arisen at a reputable and successful SEND School in Orpington. This part time post is to start immediately!
The ideal Site Assistant will have experience in school premises and site maintenance, health & safety, responding to emergencies, liaising with contractors, and possess excellent communication skills.
You will be performing routine inspections of the school premises to identify and address maintenance needs. Also as Site Assistant you will be conducting minor repairs and maintenance tasks, including plumbing, carpentry, and electrical work. Additionally as Site Assistant you will ensure the school grounds are clean, safe, and well-maintained, including gardening and waste management.
The role
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and policies.
- Conduct regular health and safety checks and risk assessments.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections and incidents.
- Implement and oversee emergency evacuation procedures.
- Act as the first point of contact for any on-site emergencies.
- Provide immediate response to incidents and emergencies, ensuring the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors.
- Coordinate with emergency services when necessary.
- Coordinate with external contractors for larger maintenance and repair projects.
- Oversee and monitor the work of contractors to ensure it meets the school's standards and is completed on time.
- Ensure contractors comply with health and safety regulations while on site.
- Communicate effectively with school staff, students, parents, and visitors.
- Provide regular updates to the school management on maintenance and safety issues.
- Work collaboratively with the school administration to prioritize and address maintenance needs.
- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within a school setting.
- Strong knowledge of premises and site maintenance.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations and procedures.
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic proficiency in using maintenance tools and equipment.
- Part-time, flexible hours to be agreed upon, with occasional need for additional hours during emergencies or special projects.
