We are seeking a compassionate and proactive Community Support Worker to assist an individual with a hidden learning disability who is keen on becoming more active, developing confidence, and expanding their social circle. This role is perfect for someone who understands the challenges associated with shyness and social anxiety and can provide supportive encouragement to engage in community activities and personal development.
Day-to-day of the role:- Accompany the individual to various social settings, helping them to build and maintain rapport with peers.
- Support the individual in initiating and participating in activities like walking, shopping, cinema visits, bowling, karaoke, kickboxing, and gym sessions.
- Encourage and assist the individual in maintaining cleanliness and tidiness, especially after activities such as cooking.
- Facilitate conversations and interactions to help the individual make new friends and improve social skills.
- Assist in exploring employment opportunities, particularly in areas of interest like hairdressing, and prepare for job interactions.
- Encourage the individual to express their needs, desires, and interests, and help plan and arrange social activities accordingly.
- Experience in supporting individuals with learning disabilities and social anxiety.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and encourage.
- Patience and understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with hidden disabilities.
- Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate the individual’s participation in various activities.
