Job Overview:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Catering Lecturer to join our team in Orpington. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and practical training to students studying Level 2 and Level 3 Catering qualifications. This is a fantastic opportunity to pass on your expertise and passion for the catering industry to the next generation of chefs and hospitality professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver engaging and practical lessons to students studying Level 2 and Level 3 Catering qualifications.
  • Develop and implement innovative and industry-relevant teaching strategies to meet diverse student needs.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and guidance to support their development.
  • Contribute to the planning and development of curriculum content to meet industry standards.
  • Organise and participate in practical workshops, demonstrations, and live catering events.
  • Provide pastoral and academic support to students, promoting a positive learning environment.
  • Maintain a safe and professional kitchen environment for students to practice and develop their skills.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and practices in the catering industry, ensuring that teaching remains relevant and current.
Essential Criteria:
  • A relevant qualification in Catering or Culinary Arts.
  • A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, CertEd, or equivalent).
  • Practical experience in catering, with a strong understanding of food preparation, presentation, and kitchen management.
  • Experience teaching Level 2 and Level 3 Catering qualifications.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for teaching and the ability to inspire and motivate students.
Desirable Criteria:
  • Previous experience teaching in a further education or vocational setting.
  • Experience in managing kitchen environments and leading practical lessons.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current industry trends, including new techniques and dietary requirements.
  • Experience in working with industry-standard kitchen equipment and technologies.
