As Finance Director at Hartwell Manufacturing, you will play a pivotal role in driving the company’s strategic growth through robust financial planning, leadership, and management. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the business meets all financial obligations, maintaining a strong financial foundation, and leading the finance team to excellence. You will develop and implement policies and strategies to optimise financial performance, mitigate risks, and achieve the company’s objectives.

This role requires a balance of strategic vision, operational excellence, and team leadership to support Hartwell’s continued growth and success.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic and Financial Leadership:

Drive the financial strategy of the company by analysing performance metrics, identifying risks, and recommending proactive measures.

Provide expert financial advice to the Board of Directors, including detailed financial forecasts and investment strategies.

Develop and oversee the implementation of financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.

Lead the development of long-term financial plans aligned with the company’s business objectives.

Monitor economic trends and provide insights to inform strategic decision-making.

Operational and Functional Development:

Oversee the preparation and delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Manage the company’s budgeting process, including annual budgets, forecasts, and cost management initiatives.

Ensure robust internal controls and compliance with financial legislation and standards.

Establish and maintain relationships with auditors, banks, and other external stakeholders.

Optimise cash flow management and ensure the company meets its financial obligations.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Build, manage, and inspire a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Set clear performance targets for the finance team and provide regular feedback and development opportunities.
  • Lead by example, promoting collaboration and strong cross-functional relationships within the business.
  • Act as a mentor to team members, enhancing their skills and career progression.

Accountabilities:

  • Ensure the company’s financial health and stability by meeting all financial commitments.
  • Provide high-quality financial reporting and data to support informed decision-making.
  • Lead and execute effective financial strategies that contribute to overall business success.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A qualified accountant with a recognised professional qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • Extensive experience in a senior financial leadership role, ideally within the manufacturing or industrial sector.
  • Proven track record of strategic financial planning and operational execution.
  • Demonstrable expertise in corporate finance, budgeting, forecasting, and risk management.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools, including advanced Excel and ERP systems (e.g., Sage, SAP, or similar).
  • Experience in leading and developing finance teams to deliver exceptional results.
