Step into a pivotal role where you’ll take full ownership of commodity groups, driving the sourcing of materials, negotiating competitive commercial contracts, and fuelling the company’s supply chain to meet its ambitious cost and cash goals. Collaborating closely with key functions, you’ll lead strategic initiatives across direct categories, becoming an essential player in the company’s success.

Main Duties
Master Commodity Strategies: Develop and maintain both global and local commodity strategies, becoming the go-to expert in each category. Collaborate cross-functionally to bring these strategies to life.
Champion Cost Reduction: Drive a culture of relentless cost and price reduction to maximize efficiency and profitability.
Build Supplier Long-Term Agreements: Craft long-term supplier agreements, setting targets that cover Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) performance.
Enhance Payment Terms: Negotiate improved payment terms to optimize cash flow.
Adopt a Should-Cost Approach: Use cost data insights to shape strategic purchasing decisions and maximize value.
Leverage Supplier Relationships: Use the full supplier toolkit to unlock opportunities, especially in a small/medium volume business.
Issue RFQs: Align supplier quotes with business requirements through effective Request for Quotation (RFQ) processes.
Champion Best Practices: Collaborate with suppliers to implement industry-leading practices, enhancing the end-to-end supply chain.
Manage Supplier Risk: Identify potential supplier risks and deploy mitigation strategies to protect the business.
Lead Supplier Performance Reviews: Conduct regular Quarterly Business Reviews focusing on QCD to keep performance on track.
Resolve Supplier Issues: Act as the escalation point for supplier performance challenges.
Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to all company policies and legal health and safety regulations.
Key Requirements
- Degree educated
- CIPS qualified
- 5+ years of experience in commodity management
- Proven negotiation expertise
- Strategic thinker with a passion for cost savings and process improvement
- Experience managing complex projects
- Skilled in QCD supplier performance metrics
- ERP/MRP experience
- Track record in setting up vendor stocking arrangements
- Exceptional communicator with a results-driven approach
- Ability to thrive under pressure
