Department: Finance Reports to: College AccountantSalary: £60,000 per annum + benefitsThe Deputy College Accountant is a key member of the College's finance team, playing a lead role in the production of statutory and management accounting information as well as in supporting effective financial management in the College. The position combines core accounting functions, operational tasks such as month end processes, management accounting and statutory accounting. The postholder will work in a small and friendly team, supporting students, staff and Fellows across the College.

Key responsibilities:

  • Deputising for the College Accountant and playing a key role in the management of the finance function.
  • Producing the annual budget and regular management accounts, providing timely data to the Governing Body, senior management and budget holders.
  • Preparing the Charity's statutory accounts, together with subsidiary accounts, and submitting other statutory reports and returns.
  • Managing the College's commercial property leases and other projects or initiatives.
  • Contributing to financial strategy and business model development.
  • Attending committee meeting and management team meetings.

You will be:

  • A qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, or equivalent) with at least three years of relevant experience preferably in the education/charity sector.
  • A highly competent user of excel and good knowledge of other Microsoft Office packages.
  • Have familiarity of working with an accounting system and other database packages.
  • Have an analytical mind and an eye for detail with an ability to work under pressure.
  • Have good interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate confidently and effectively.
