Description

We are seeking a Financial Accountant to prepare accurate financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting regulations. This is a pro-active 'hands on' position, performing a variety of financial and administrative duties across a number of inter-related businesses. Working closely with the Finance Manager, you will maintain accurate records, have a good understanding of financial controls and accounting standards, experience in financial reporting and excellent collaboration and communication skills.

Key activities:

  • Carry out core finance processes, including but not limited to the calculation of depreciation and interest, preparation of accrued and deferred income and expenses, posting journals, intercompany accounts and reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations and VAT returns
  • Responsible for maintaining the Fixed Assets Register
  • Responsible for timely customer invoicing and debt collection
  • Prepare month end working papers, liaising with the wider finance team to ensure accurate representation of records
  • Prepare year end working papers, working with external accountants to resolve queries and produce the statutory accounts
  • Assist the Finance Manager with external audits
  • Responsible for the preparation and filing of dormant accounts
  • Management and tracking of customer estimates and supplier purchase orders
  • Assist the Finance Manager with tax reporting and payments (Including PSA)
  • Develop finance processes and monitoring financial controls
  • Prepare monthly financial statements
  • Prepare and provide Management Reporting to wider finance team

Profile

A successful 'Financial Accountant' should have:

  • Part Qualified accountant, or QBE, with good technical knowledge and strong background in an all round accounting position
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, plus excellent attention to detail
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Self-starter, able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Commutable distance to the office location in Central Oxford
