We're seeking a proficient Finance Professional to oversee financial transformation for a charity client of ours in Oxford.
Candidates will be expected to be in the office as is required for the project so need to be local.

Description
This project will: conduct a thorough review of current financial systems, processes and reports to identify inefficiencies and incompatibilities; design and implement new systems and processes and train staff to operate them to ensure that all financial tasks are efficiently managed. The aim is to enhance operational effectiveness, improve system integration, and support the organisation's long-term growth.
Duration: 3 days per week for approx. 6 months
Rate: £300-400 p/d
Scope of Work:
- Process Mapping: Carry out a thorough review of current systems by conducting interviews with key stakeholders to develop a clear representation of current financial processes, contracts and systems, preventing the loss of critical knowledge.
- Efficiency Improvement: Identify inefficiencies, and bottlenecks in current financial operations and provide expert financial advice to recommend, design and implement improvements.
- System Integration: Assess the functionality and limitations of current systems, understand how different financial and operational systems interlink (e.g., Arlo, Xero, QuickBooks), and improve their integration.
- Process Re-engineering: Design new financial reports that support a streamlined and efficient finance department, ensuring best practices in financial management and compliance.
- Staff Training, Knowledge Transfer and Mentorship: Adopt a sensitive change management approach that minimises resistance and maximises user adoption. Ensure the redesigned processes are effectively implemented and ensure that staff are adequately trained to maintain and operate within the new framework. Review and make recommendations for job roles within the team and act as a mentor to the new Deputy Finance Manager.
- Business as Usual: Throughout the project, maintain business as usual for the finance department, overseeing the monthly financial ledger, ensuring accurate profit and loss statements, bank reconciliations, and reporting. Conduct monthly cash flow analysis and forecasting. Support the CEO and Fundraising Lead with funding bids and reports.
Lead the preparation of year-end accounts and manage the annual audit process efficiently. Ensure all legal, tax, and regulatory obligations are met, maintaining full compliance with relevant standards.
Profile
Consultant Key Skills and Experience:
- Fully Qualified Accountant
- Proven experience leading a finance transformation project
- Strong understanding of how to drive change and improvements, examples must be clear on your CV
- Experienced leading a finance function,
- UK Right to work
- Local to Oxford
- Looking for £300-400 per day depending on experience and pay structure ( PAYE/Umbrella/ Ltd Co)
- Experience in the Charity sector is ideal but not essential
Job Offer

- 6 month assignment on a part time basis.
- Hybrid working. Oxford Office has parking.
- A temporary role with potential for extension.
This role would suit a Qualified Accountant with experience gained in mapping processes and implementing change. You may have done this as a Finance Director, Financial Controller, Finance Manager, Finance Consultant or as a Finance Business Analyst in a previous role
