 This role is crucial for managing the collection of Council Tax and Business Rates, negotiating repayment plans, and taking recovery actions.Â
Day-to-day of the role:- Collect money due in respect of Council Tax and Business Rates.
- Process incoming data in accordance with legislation and Council Policies to ensure accurate collection.
- Interrogate and cross-reference database systems to verify liability and assist in the collection of monies due.
- Follow recovery procedures to decide the best action for collecting money due.
- Initiate and follow up with customers who have fallen behind with payments.
- Obtain up-to-date financial information to maximise customer income and negotiate repayment plans.
- Maximise the uptake of benefits, discounts, exemptions, and reliefs for those entitled.
- Escalate cases to Senior Recovery Officers where normal recovery tools are ineffective or challenged.
- Recommend cases to be written off where further recovery activity is not appropriate.
- Support the development and delivery of the Revenues service, making recommendations to aid continuous improvement.
- Recent experience using Civica (Open Revenues).Â
- Experience in administering Council Tax, Business Rates, or working in a financial, collection, or debt recovery environment.
- This is a proactive role and does require call outs to customers!Â
