Job Overview: As a Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the development of their high-performance Formula One race car. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will use your expertise in design to create innovative solutions that enhance the car's performance, reliability, and competitiveness. Your proficiency in CATIA V5 / V6, Nx or 3DX will be crucial in translating concepts into precise, manufacturable designs.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with aerodynamics, mechanical, and other teams to understand design requirements and objectives.
- Design and develop components, systems, or structures related to [Composite/Suspension/Powertrain/Stress/Surfacing] with a focus on performance optimization.
- Utilise CATIA V5, V6, 3DX or NX to create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings of designs.
- Perform detailed stress, thermal, and dynamic analyses to ensure designs meet safety, durability, and performance standards.
- Contribute to the selection of materials and manufacturing processes that align with performance goals and regulations.
- Participate in design reviews, providing insights and recommendations to enhance the overall design process.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and production teams to ensure seamless transition from design to fabrication.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices within Formula One and [Composite/Suspension/Powertrain/Stress/Surface] design.
- Assist in troubleshooting and providing solutions to design-related challenges during testing and race events.
- Uphold a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and excellence within the design team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Min 2 years of hands-on experience in [Composite/Suspension/Powertrain/Stress] design within the Formula One industry.
- Proficiency in CATIA V5, NX or 3DX with a proven ability to create complex 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings.
- Strong understanding of [Composite/Suspension/Powertrain/Stress/Surfacing] principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with structural analysis tools and techniques to ensure designs meet performance and safety requirements.
