My client, an innovative company at the cutting edge of electric motor technology in automotive, requires a fault analysis engineer to join its team.

Responsibilities:

  • Determining the root causes of reported faults using recognised analysis processes, such as 8D, Five Whys, Fault Tree etc.
  • Engaging with multidisciplinary teams during the definition and investigation phases of 8D processes.
  • Documenting investigations in a timely manner to allow tracking and reporting of their status and progress.
  • Conceive, plan, oversee and execute tests and trials designed to establish the root causes of reported faults.
  • Set out clear investigation strategies to instruct and guide Technician colleagues in their execution, when required.
  • Document investigations accurately and thoroughly to produce appropriate engineering reports in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • To hold a relevant engineering qualification (e.g. mechanical or electrical).
  • To have exposure in fault or failure investigation, or of test or development in a similar, relevant environment (e.g. automotive, aerospace, precision engineering).
  • To have experience working with mechanical parts and/or machinery.
  • To evidence a pragmatic approach to problem-solving and the ability to apply knowledge to real-world situations.
  • The ability to communicate the progress and results of investigations, in progress and upon completion in a relevant and appropriate way.
  • To be familiar with FMEA and 8D processes and supporting techniques.
  • A working knowledge and understanding of the properties of a range of engineering materials, and their applications.
  • A practical, hands-on approach when required and appropriate.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
