As a Business Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in expanding our company's footprint and strengthening their position as a leading commercial design and fit-out organisation. You will leverage your exceptional networking skills to build and cultivate strategic relationships with key industry stakeholders. By combining a consultative approach with a keen eye for new business opportunities, you will identify and pursue projects that align with our company's vision. Your ability to establish trust, credibility, and demonstrate deep market expertise will be instrumental in securing new business and driving growth.

Role Overview

We are seeking a strategic and dynamic Senior Business Development Consultant to drive our business growth by proactively identifying, engaging, and securing new opportunities within the commercial design and fit-out sector. This role is essential for building relationships that position our brand as the go-to provider of innovative, high-quality fit-out solutions across Oxfordshire, Milton Keynes, Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire, and Hertfordshire.

Your mission is to establish and expand our presence in these regions by leveraging your professional network, engaging with industry influencers, and connecting with prospective clients to understand their needs and project opportunities. This is a consultative role, focused not on transactional sales, but on building trust and credibility through expertise and insightful consultation. Success in this role requires both the finesse of relationship building and the drive to originate new business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Origination & Relationship Development: Identify and secure new business by building long-lasting relationships within the construction and design community.
  • Strategic Networking: Attend and actively participate in industry events, trade shows, and client meetings to broaden our network and increase visibility.
  • Consultative Engagement: Use your industry knowledge to engage in meaningful discussions on development projects, positioning us as the preferred partner for commercial fit-outs.
  • Targeted Lead Management: Profile target companies and manage high-quality leads, ensuring all interactions align with our brand’s consultative approach.
  • Collaborative Strategy Development: Work closely with our marketing and business development teams to refine messaging, outreach strategies, and client engagement efforts.
  • Market Intelligence: Monitor market trends and competitor activities to keep abreast of new developments, feeding insights into business strategy and sales tactics.
  • CRM & Data Management: Maintain up-to-date records of interactions and contacts within the CRM, ensuring effective data tracking for strategic outreach and reporting.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage our design and fit-out experts when necessary to provide tailored solutions that exceed client expectations.

About You:

You are a natural networker, adept at cultivating relationships and maximizing industry connections to create new business opportunities. You enjoy being at the center of industry activity—whether at business events, trade shows, or face-to-face meetings. Your approach is consultative, built on trust and demonstrated expertise, with a strong understanding of how to originate and secure high-value projects.

Experience Required:

  • You will be a seasoned business networker, adept at forging and nurturing relationships within the construction industry.
  • A proven track record in business development, with a focus on new business acquisition.
  • A strong network of contacts within the construction industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A consultative sales approach.
  • A passion for driving business growth and achieving results.
  • Demonstrated success in business development, ideally within the commercial fit-out or design sector.
  • A robust network of industry contacts and a strong reputation in your field.
  • Proven ability to engage in strategic conversations and position the business as an industry leader.
  • Skilled at navigating CRM systems for lead management, data analysis, and reporting.
  • A strategic thinker, capable of analysing market insights to shape business development efforts.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration across teams.
