Job Title: Area Sales Manager - Material Handling for Waste and Scrap Metal

Area to be covered: South

Remuneration: £50,000-£55,000 + £12,000-£24,000 uncapped commission

The role of the Area Sales Manager - Material Handling for Waste and Scrap Metal will include:

  • Field sales position selling/hiring waste machinery such as material handlers, waste wheel loaders, waste telehandlers etc.
  • Securing new contract rental/ hire, with a small focus on spot hire (typically 3-5 year contracts)
  • Selling into waste contractors and scrap metal merchants
  • Various targets including; selling 18 x 35 tonne material handlers per annum
  • Typical projects from £700 to £3,000 per week over 3-5 years
  • Typically 3-4 days a week on the road, remainder working from home
  • On average 3 good quality customer visits per day
  • 50% new business development, 50% managing circa 50-60active spending waste contractors and scrap metal merchants (mix of nationals and independents)
  • Regular travel to multiple site locations throughout the South

The ideal applicant will be an Area Sales Manager - Material Handling for Waste and Scrap Metal with:

  • Knowledge of waste machinery such as material handlers, waste wheel loaders, waste telehandlers etc.
  • A strong understanding of the hire market, with an understanding of contract hire
  • Proven experience in customer interaction in waste and scrap metal industries.
  • Proven experience in the sales / hiring field to include negotiations.
  • Strong customer focus and communication - both internal and externally.
  • Thorough understanding of commercial element of the business, leading presentations to customers.
  • Potentially have a broad technical knowledge of powered access and general plant machinery.
  • Excellent administration and organisational skills.
  • Pro-active problem solving.
  • Computer literacy
