Senior Architectural Technician or Technologist
Location: Central Oxford
Salary: £50k - £55k
Hours: 08:30 am to 17:00 pm Mon – Fri (Core Hours)

Job Summary
As a Senior Architectural Technician/Technologist, you will apply your expertise in building science and technology to support architectural and construction projects. Your role will involve managing the design process, using technical knowledge to offer practical, innovative solutions, and overseeing the negotiation and management of construction contracts.
Key Responsibilities
1. Managerial Responsibilities
Support the Group Director of Architecture, working with Architectural Associates and other senior team members to guide architectural teams. Key duties include:
- Promoting the company’s core values: safety, quality, integrity, and teamwork.
- Ensuring projects meet client expectations regarding service, quality, value, and delivery.
- Planning and managing resources effectively to meet project needs.
- Collaborating with sub-consultants on project briefs and managing third-party contracts.
- Assisting in recruiting, training, and appraising staff to ensure the team has the necessary skills.
- Contributing to team improvement initiatives and management meetings.
2. Project Delivery
Support all stages of project development, including:
- Project Inception: Assessing client needs, establishing project briefs, advising on regulatory requirements, and managing feasibility studies.
- Design Process: Developing and presenting design proposals, ensuring regulatory compliance, and producing and managing design information.
- Contract Management: Ensuring contract compliance, conducting inspections, overseeing project handovers, and collecting client feedback.
3. Technical Competence
Maintain high technical standards by:
- Ensuring all projects adhere to technical, health, and safety standards.
- Acting as a technical resource on CAD/Revit, guiding teams on software use and supporting project file management in line with company standards (BS1192, BS19650).
4. Commercial Management
Assist the Architectural Commercial Controller with project forecasts and reporting, including:
- Updating revenue forecasts, pipeline data, and workbench entries.
- Providing regular updates to the Group Director on project progress, resource availability, and profitability.
5. Business Development
Assist in business development efforts, including:
- Preparing bid proposals, contributing to PQQs, and supporting tender submissions to win new work.
Person Specification
Experience
- Experience in the construction industry, with strong knowledge of architectural project delivery.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in CAD software, including 3D graphics, with knowledge of BIM Level 2 standards.
Qualifications
- Relevant technical qualifications or equivalent experience; MCIAT or TCIAT registration (or progress toward) is preferred.
