Electrical Design Engineer

As an Electrical Engineer, you will provide professional input to the Electrical design, manufacture, and test/commissioning of projects. You will interact with Engineering, manufacturing, and support staff, developing creative, innovative, and adaptive designs for a variety of clients in the Nuclear Industry. Additionally, you will:

  • Work closely with internal & external engineering staff to produce Electrical system designs for a variety of projects, including precision positioning controls for Remote Handling systems, machinery controls, safety circuits and LV/ELV systems.
  • Develop and apply expertise in technologies such as programmable logic controllers, motion controls, distributed I/O and instrumentation.
  • Use of Electrical CAD software such as Trimble (Amtech), PAScal and SEE Electrical to produce schematics, hook-ups, and other Electrical design documentation.
  • Contribute to hazard analysis and risk assessment exercises.
  • Contribute to design reviews, system verification and validation.
  • Maintain and update engineering drawings and documentation on projects.
  • Work within VNS procedures and contribute to their development.
  • Design in line with the relevant British, European, International and company standards.
  • Support physical commissioning activities and in-house test activities.

You should have a good working knowledge of CAD systems as well as the ability to partner with wider disciplines across the business. In addition to Electrical Design experience, you should have a degree or relevant qualification in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering.

This position will be based in Abingdon 3 days per week with 2 days remote working.
