Reporting to: Manufacturing Manager
The Opportunity:
You will receive comprehensive training in production processes to ensure our products meet both internal and external performance and reliability standards. Your responsibilities will include supporting the assembly of components necessary for the build and testing of systems within the Operations team. This role is ideal for a motivated individual seeking to advance their career in an electro-mechanical environment, with opportunities for international travel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and test complex sub-assemblies, ensuring tools meet required standards by following build and test documentation.
- Assemble cable assemblies in compliance with IPC standards.
- Perform soldering tasks to IPC standards.
- Identify and report manufacturing issues promptly.
- Collaborate with the manufacturing team to enhance processes and improve product quality.
- Assist the Manufacturing Manager in ensuring timely delivery of products to customers.
- Maintain cleanliness in production and cleanroom areas.
- Prepare assembly kits according to the Bill of Materials (BOM) as needed.
- Travel to and work at overseas manufacturing sites when required.
- Promote and uphold high standards of health and safety throughout the organization.
Personal Qualities:
An individual with excellent hand-eye coordination, exceptional manual dexterity, and a strong technical aptitude. They should be capable of thinking quickly and adapting to challenges as needed.
Education / Qualifications:
- An educational qualification (e.g. GCSE / HND) in a relevant discipline such as Electro-mechanical assembly
- A few years of practical experience in a manufacturing technician role
- Experience at a local level in core technology areas
Essential:
- Proven experience in building and testing advanced high-technology products.
- Proficiency in wiring and soldering to IPC standards.
- Strong communication skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel when required (must be eligible for a U.S. visa).
- Proficiency in written and spoken technical English.
- Solid computer skills.
- Experience in report writing.
- Ambition to build a career within an engineering environment.
Desirable:
- Experience in engineering development and transitioning products through the product lifecycle.
- Background in manufacturing within the semiconductor industry (a significant advantage).
- Experience in building and testing optical systems, including lasers, fibers, electronics, and electro-mechanical components.
- Familiarity with test equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters.
- Experience working in a cleanroom environment.
- Understanding of quality control and/or manufacturing engineering principles.
