We are excited to be recruiting a Head of Finance to support a group of subsidiaries within a leading public sector organisation. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of financial management, providing high-quality support to senior stakeholders while ensuring best practice across the organisation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading financial planning and budgeting, working closely with senior leaders to optimise resources.
  • Overseeing financial reporting and monitoring, ensuring accurate reconciliations, payroll checks, and management accounts.
  • Supporting deficit recovery efforts and enhancing financial processes, with a focus on consistency and efficiency.
  • Managing finance staff across multiple subsidiaries, providing leadership and development opportunities.
  • Acting as a key point of contact for audits, compliance, and financial policy implementation.

This role is based across two sites, with a hybrid working arrangement and a supportive, team-oriented environment. The successful candidate will:

  • Be a qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA), however AAT Level 4 qualified candidates with education experience will be considered.
  • Ideally have experience in the local authority or education sector, ideally within a Multi-Academy Trust, or have trained in practice.
  • Possess strong management accounting skills, with experience overseeing budgets and producing financial reports.
  • Have experience managing or supervising finance staff.
  • Be proficient in Excel, including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and formulae.
  • Be an articulate communicator, comfortable engaging with a variety of stakeholders.
