About the Senior Ecologist Role

This consultancy is looking for individuals with:

  • A degree in ecology or a related field.
  • Proficiency in surveying and identifying one or more UK fauna/flora taxonomic groups.
  • Holding or experience working under protected species licenses.
  • Knowledge of UKHab and its integration with Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and National Vegetation Classification (NVC).
  • Proven project management skills, including tendering, client care, and junior staff mentorship.
  • Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and planning policies.
  • Experience with assessment systems such as EcIA, EIA, and HRA.
  • A valid driving licence and a willingness to work flexibly and autonomously.
  • Ability or willingness to relocate to within commuting distance of Oxford.

Additional expertise in GIS software, bat call analysis, or public inquiry experience is highly desirable.
